Fancy Nancy

Nancy (French pronunciation: [nɑ̃.si]is located in the Lorraine Province (quiche Lorraine....) of France and is an urban photographers paradise.

History is just oozing out of weathered doors, ancient walls, and manicured parks.

One fantastic park about half a mile from our hotel was Parc Olry. It was beautiful. The actual playground was hedged by trees that were sheared into squares, creating a "wall" of the branches.

At one of the many Cathedrals of Nancy there was a young man brake dancing. Olivia decided to give it a go. Nancy is also where we indulged in French chocolates and Macaroons. Délicieux!

The symbol of this region is the double cross (which was also adopted by the revolutionaries during the war) and can be seen throughout the architecture.

Some streets in Nancy date back to the middle ages (with the store fronts being preserved). One old castle as been turned into a primary school (elementary school), and Joan of Arc hails from the region.

Tour de France cuts through Nancy. Viva La France!

The main plaza of Nancy, hosts a Palace turned hotel, an Opera house, legal buildings and many restaurants.

What a wonderful time we had in Nancy! This city is an asset to France, and holds fond memories for our tummies.
