I have never wanted to go to Paris. Don't get me wrong, I was pleased that we were going, and excited to do the things that we had planned, but it had never been high on my travel list (and I have a long travel list). That being said, my overall impression of Paris, or France in general as we were in Nancy as well, is that:I LOVE IT.
Beautiful things to see. Amazing food to eat...magnifique!
First we took the children to Disneyland Paris for two days.
The children were elated, I wish I could capture the bouncing and squeals that were occurring 99% of the time. Brett took Olivia on a Star Wars ride (at Disney?) and Noah and I walked around. We hit the character jackpot. We saw Daisy and Donald, Chip and Dale,
Our first stop in Paris was to Versailles. We spent our time mainly in the gardens which were breathtaking. Elaborate fountains, marble statues, and garden mazes, it was perfect. There was a musical fountain show, which was Olivia's favorite. I loved a statue of "The Giant" (think Titans) that Jupiter (Zeus) banished.
Tour Eiffel
If the Louvre was the only thing in Paris to see, I would still go to Paris, just for the Louvre. This palace turned museum was indescribable. I spent as much time looking at the architecture as I did the "artwork". It was overwhelming to see so much history contained in one place.
Notre Dame
After a few days in Nancy for Brett's conference we came back to Paris to head home. Our train station was about a mile to St Michaels Basilica, so we put our bags in storage and hiked over for a quick look before heading to the airport.

Wow, Jess, I can't believe all these places you are visiting! You look great, and your kids are SO adorable. Have some fun for me while you are out there. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is so exhausting to do museums with kids, but worth it! What an amazing trip.
